Using sustainable processes and regional materials to investigate posthuman feminism, the hidden labours of care, and ecological justice, Lauren deliberately embraces techniques traditionally categorised as domestic, feminine, or craft, elevating these historically marginalised methods within contemporary art spaces.
By sculpting with fabrics and threads and painting with foraged finds, she uncovers and honours the forgotten human and non-human voices of our past and present. She works deeply and intentionally with her materials, believing in the power of knowing through hands-on doing. Her latest body of work explores the alchemy of natural dyes and hand weaving. Through these slow, deliberate practices, she connects intimately with raw materials that consistently demonstrate their own distinct agency, actively demanding to be heard.

A Call To The Fen formed part of a group exhibition to celebrate the launch of BASE Lincoln.
The work explores the drainage of the fens in the 17th Century by outside projectors, turning the common wetlands into profitable farmland. Local people, who carved a living from the wildfowl, eels, reeds, and peat, would recite the rhyme to ask the ‘Tiddy Munn’ to tame the floodwaters that threatened their homes. When the drainage brought hardship, the people pleaded the ‘Tiddy Munn’ to restore the Fens and their way of life. With the consequences of industrial farming now evident today in the receding peat and malnourished soils, has the call gone unheard for too long?
